Agenda Item Summary: The existing policy determines distance via a “radius” around each high school building. The proposed change to policy is to adopt “walking distance” instead. A separate Action Item will be to vote on the policy proposal and adjustments to language in the attendant regulation.
Background: The office of pupil transportation has prepared a proposal to adjust the walk to school policy for high school students. On April 25, 2019, the Director of the Office of Pupil Transportation will be giving a presentation on this proposal.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends the School Board review the attachment and provide feedback.
