Agenda Item Summary: This regulation, JEA-R, outlines ACPS Attendance Policy and associated attendance language, the procedures by which the school division monitors and responds to truant activity, and the consequences of truant behaviors. This proposed regulation was developed by a focus group of Social Workers and the Truancy Outreach Specialist with the guidance of the Executive Director of Student Services. Feedback was solicited from a variety of stakeholder as a part of the review process.
Background: Currently there is not a regulation to accompany School Board Policy JEA: Compulsory Attendance. In order to provide specific guidance to schools and families on compulsory attendance, a detailed regulation was developed.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends that the School Board review the new regulation for School Board Policy JEA.
