Agenda Item Summary: During the 2019-2020 school year, the COVID-19 pandemic and closure of schools caused the AHOF Advisory Committee to halt mid-process on their selection for candidates to be inducted into the ACPS Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction for these nominees would have taken place in Fall of 2020. Since resuming their meetings, the committee has finalized their selections for the 2020 class of inductees.
Background: In February 2014,the Alexandria City School Board formed the Athletic Hall of Fame Advisory Committee in response to numerous requests to memorialize outstanding student athletes, and to inspire current students to strive for excellence.Since that time, there have been 51 inductees into the ACPS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Each year, the Alexandria City School Board’s Athletic Hall of Fame Advisory Committee reviews community nominations of deserving high school athletes, teams, coaches and non-athlete contributors for inclusion in the ACPS Athletic Hall of Fame. Nominees are selected based on their athletic accomplishments in high school, college and beyond, as well as their impact or contribution to the community at large.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends that the School Board review the selections for the 2020 Athletic Hall of Fame.
