Agenda Item Summary: BACKGROUND: On February 21, 2019, staff outlined a work plan to address the comparative analysis of the second comprehensive high school, and identify a program and site approach for the Connected High School Network, while aligning all work with the School Board’s priorities including all elements outlined in the January 24, 2019 motion and amendment as amended on March 21, 2019. Staff gave an update to the progress of the work on the educational design team as well as site evaluation at the May 23, 2019 meeting.
Background: SUMMARY: This presentation includes information that has been presenting at open houses held throughout the City in June to discuss key topics of The High School Project and the key components of the comparative analysis between a single high school, T.C. Williams with an expansion using the Connected High School Network model and a second comprehensive high school in addition to T.C. Williams for the City of Alexandria.

The High School Project team’s goals for the June 10 work session are to (1) confirm the School Board’s priorities associated with the project work plan and (2) ensure there is a clear and mutual understanding of the process between the ACPS High School Project Team and the School Board.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends that the School Board review the materials and be prepared to discuss priorities and/or potential options that should be explored.
