Agenda Item Summary:
Background: The School Board adopted its FY 2020 –2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget on December 19, 2019 totaling $198.8M for FY 2021 and $530.7M across all ten years. In February, the City Manager proposed a CIP fully funding ACPS’ proposed FY 2021 budget. However, since that time, based on the projected fiscal impacts of COVID-19, the City has needed to reduce ACPS’ CIP budget for FY 2021. This reduction was accommodated by deferring $103.7M for the High School Project from FY 2021 to FY 2023. The adjusted budget is detailed in the chart; please note that the 10-year City Council approved is estimated based on the shifting of funding years for the high school project.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends that the School Board approve the FY 2021 –2030 Capital Improvement Program Budget in the total amount of $532,484,885, with $95,089,100 in FY 2021. The Superintendent is granted the authority to make the necessary minor changes to comply with the School Board.
