ACPS 2025 Strategic Plan Goal:
Objective 1.3 Disproportionality
ACPS will focus on increasing representation of minority students in talented and gifted programs and in Honors and Advanced Placement courses; decreasing suspension rates of minority students, particularly males; and preventing over-identification of racial/ethnic minorities for remedial or special education services. ACPS will also focus on eliminating gender and racial/ethnic disparities among students enrolling in science, technology, engineering, math, and literature classes and in advanced classes such as honors and Advanced Placement.
Objective 5.1 Student Physical, Social, and Emotional Health
ACPS will develop, implement, and monitor effective programs that promote physical, social, and emotional wellness in order to maximize students’ learning potential.
Objective 6.2 Continuous Improvement
ACPS will engage in cycles of continuous improvement at every level of the school division, and it will employ evidence-based decision-making in its consideration of process improvements, policy making, and budgeting and accountability.

Agenda Item Summary: The enclosed brief highlights second quarter discipline data for the division. The report provides a multi-year comparison of the number of discipline referrals and out-of-school suspensions by school, percentage of suspensions within subgroups, and short and long-term suspension reasons.
Background: Throughout the year the Department of Accountability analyzes discipline data across all schools within the division. Quarterly discipline data are reviewed and monitored by various internal stakeholders within the division to inform procedural, programmatic and other discipline related practices.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends the School Board review the information within this memo and the attached discipline report pertaining to quarter two discipline findings.
