Agenda Item Summary: The ACPS CTE Coordinator and Staff Liaison to the Career and Technical Education Advisory Committee has requested that the School Board waive the requirement limiting the Committee Chair, Dave Remick, from serving only two consecutive terms as the Committee Chair. Due to recent changes in ACPS to the CTE Coordinator, the Committee and Staff Liaison, felt it would benefit the Committee and ACPS to have continuity of leadership on this committee.
Background: Policy BCF states that "Committee Chairs may only serve two consecutive, one-year terms as Chair of the Committee and may be nominated for the Chair position again after two years of not having served in that role." The School Board has the ability to waive that requirement, if needed, for the benefit of the committee or for continuity of leadership.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends that the School Board waive the term limit requirement for the CTE Advisory Committee so that Dave Remick may continue to serve as Chair of CTEAC for the 2019-2020 School Year.
