This proposal is for a one-year alignment of Samuel Tucker Elementary School’s academic calendar with the rest of ACPS to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the school community. This calendar change prioritizes the health and safety of the Samuel Tucker community and allows Samuel Tucker to align with the ACPS 4.0 Enhanced Continuity of Learning Plan: Reimagining Schools. The administrative team at Samuel Tucker informed their staff and parent community of the proposal and gained stakeholder feedback.

Background:
|
The modified calendar for Samuel Tucker Elementary School notes staff returning to work the last week of July with students returning on the first Thursday of August. To compare, the traditional ACPS calendar notes staff returning to work the last week of August with students returning after Labor Day.

Recommendation:

The Superintendent recommends that the School Board approve the revision to the Samuel Tucker Elementary School Academic Calendar for the 2020-2021 school year.
