Agenda Item Summary: The Office of Talent Development supports professional learning and teacher effectiveness in both ACPS schools and Central Office to ensure high levels of practice. Currently, more than 1,500 employees are enrolled in our Professional Learning Management System (PLMS), our electronic platform for monitory professional development registrations. The attached PowerPoint provides a detailed and succinct summary of Talent Development district-wide efforts, data findings, and proposed recommendations for ongoing monitoring and implementation.
Background: The Office of Talent Development fully implements quality professional learning. ACPS recognizes that scaled and sustained learning will not happen by chance; we must create a culture that values learning and develop conditions which will enable such learning to occur.

The Office of Talent Development is responsible for professional development for paraprofessionals, teachers, and administration. The office is responsible for initiating teaching and learning for ACPS personnel that support state initiatives, the ACPS 2020 Strategic Plan, and the characteristics of High Performing School Divisions. The Director of Talent Development oversees the planning, delivery, and assessment of all professional development for ACPS.

The mission of the Office of Talent Development is to build adult learners’ capacity to advance the achievement of all ACPS students, enhance classroom instructional strategies that promote rigor and relevance throughout the curriculum, and prepare students for career and college readiness through professional learning opportunities.
Recommendation: The Superintendent recommends continued support of our professional development learning system as a means to increase the performance of educators in our division and improve student achievement.
