Best Practices/School Division-Initiated Policy Revisions:
The Superintendent proposes the following policy revisions driven by best practices and the changing needs of the school division and community.
Policy DAA: Investment Policy Statement- Supplemental Retirement Plan
Policy GBA/JFHA: Sexual Harassment/Harassment Based on Race, National Origin,
Disability, Religion, Gender, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sexual Orientation/Hostile Work Environment
Regulation GB-R/GBA-R/JFHA-R: Procedures for Investigating Complaints of Discrimination and Harassment
Policy IKEB: Acceleration & * NEW Regulation IKEB-R: Acceleration Regulations
Statutory/Regulatory Policy Revisions:
Changes to the Code of Virginia took effect July 1, 2016 and January 1, 2017 that impact School Board policies. More recently, action by the Virginia General Assembly during its 2017 session, as well as Virginia Board of Education and U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations, mandate Board policy revisions effective July 1, 2017. As part of the Board’s continuing policy review, we recommend that it examine the resulting statutory and regulatory policy revisions below. Background:
|
The Code of Virginia § 22.1-253.13:7 requires that each local school board shall maintain and follow up-to-date policies, and that all policies shall be reviewed at least every five years and revised as needed. In addition, the Alexandria City School Board’s Policy BF provides that policies will be reviewed at least every three years and revised as needed.
