Agenda Item Summary:
As described in the Background section below, the Office of Maintenance and Custodial Services (MCS) became its own entity during the third quarter of the school year (See attachment 1). A series of efforts including pre-COVID-19 closure, during COVID-19 closure, and planning efforts in anticipation of re-opening rules and requirements.
Background:
With the Superintendent’s restructuring plan and approval by the Board in December 2019, the Office of Maintenance and Custodial Services (MCS) became its own entity under the new Department of Facilities and Operations (F&O), effective the third quarter of the school year (see Attachment 1). This shift, along with other organizational changes, requires a modified alignment and oversight between the work and the budget structures of MCS, Educational Facilities and the new Office of Capital Programs, Planning and Design. Some of the re-alignment of resources and work elements are still in progress. All Facilities and Operations strive to provide support and coordination for essential, professional, responsive and financially efficient services to ACPS and its stakeholders.
Recommendation:
The Superintendent recommends that the School Board review the update.
