The School Board reviewed the following policies at its November 23, 2015 Work Session and they can now be advanced for New Business.
Policies Recommended for Review:
Policy LA - Education Agency Relations Goals (Revised to reflect VSBA language)
Policy LB – Relations with Private Schools (References updated)
Policy LBD – Home Instruction (Revised to include minor stylistic changes and updated references)
Policy LC- Charter School Policy (Updated to include VSBA language, include applicable legal references regarding funding of charter schools, and to reflect that charter school personnel are subject to the same licensure requirements and evaluation processes as non-charter school personnel. Since the November 23, 2015 Work Session, statutory language regarding per pupil funding has also been added)
LC-R: Charter School Regulations (Included for reference)
Policy LE – Relations with Colleges and Universities (No longer a VSBA policy; included in Policy LA: Education Agency Relations Goals)
Policy LEA – Student Teaching and Internships (Revised to reflect ACPS practice)
Policy LEB – Advanced College Placement (Revised to reflect VSBA language; previous, more specific language included procedures and is being used to create Regulation LEB-R)
LEB-R – Advanced College Placement Regulations (Incorporates language from previous LEB)

Background:
|
The Code of Virginia § 22.1-253.13:7 requires that each local school board shall maintain and follow up-to-date policies, and that all policies shall be reviewed at least every five years and revised as needed. In addition, the Alexandria City School Board’s Policy BF provides that policies will be reviewed at least every three years and revised as needed.
