In collaboration with City partners, ACPS will move aggressively to modernize all learning environments, expand or otherwise adapt facilities to meet projected changes in school enrollment, and ensure equitable application of capital improvements throughout the school division.

Agenda Item Summary: There are no major updates at this time. Since the last School Board meeting, staff has conducted student discussions regarding student concerns and ideas for the future high school model and invited all Educational Design Team members to participate. The first Educational Design Team meeting will be held on June 4th at T.C. Williams at 3:45 pm. Three open houses are also scheduled for June 4th, June 7th and June 8th. The School Board will be having a work session to discuss the High School Project on June 10th. Background: On February 21, 2019, staff outlined a work plan to address the comparative analysis of the second comprehensive high school, and identify a program and site approach for the Connected High School Network, while aligning all work with the School Board’s priorities including all elements outlined in the January 24, 2019 motion and amendment as amended on March 21, 2019. Staff gave an update to the progress of the work on the educational design team as well as site evaluation at the April 25, 2019 meeting and a progress update at the May 23, 2019 meeting.
Recommendation: The Superintendent has no recommendations for the School Board at this time.
