Agenda Item Summary:

Background:
|
In 2008, ACPS moved from schools completing School Improvement Plans (SIPs) to School Education Plans (SEPs) which are focused on the continuous improvement cycle (Plan – Do – Study - Act) identified in the ACPS Teaching and Learning Framework. Every year schools draft a new SEP that must be aligned to the division’s Strategic Plan. SEPs contain the following: • Data analysis by subgroup including: SOLs, SRI, PALs, DRA • One-year SMART goals in each of the five areas • Strategies to increase student achievement and meet the stated goals • Progress monitoring and data analysis The SEP is aligned with the ACPS Strategic Plan 2020. There is specificity on strategies to move student achievement in specialized instruction and English Learners. Each school is required to develop a goal in each of the following areas: Mathematics, Reading, Science, Specialized Instruction and the Teaching, Empowering, Leading and Learning Survey (TELL) with a focus on improving student achievement within subgroups.
