The following policies were reviewed by the School Board at its April 7, 2016 Work Session and April 21, 2016 Board Meeting. They can now be advanced for Consent. (Hyperlinks to current policies are included for reference.) GAD – Access to Employee Social Media Accounts (This new VSBA policy prohibits ACPS from requiring potential or current staff to disclose the username and password to their private social media accounts unless it is part of a formal investigation.) GCBE – Family and Medical Leave (Last updated in 2006, this revision reflects VSBA and statutory updates. GCPA – Reduction in Licensed Staff Work Force (Last updated in 2006, this policy has been updated to reflect current VSBA language and new legal requirements to include a performance component in licensed staff work force reductions.) GCQA – Nonschool Employment by Licensed Staff Members (Last updated in 1999, this policy has been updated to reflect current VSBA language.) GCQB – Licensed Staff Research and Publishing (Last updated in 1998, this policy has been updated to reflect current VSBA language and ACPS practice.) Background:

The Code of Virginia § 22.1-253.13:7 requires that each local school board shall maintain and follow up-to-date policies, and that all policies shall be reviewed at least every five years and revised as needed. In addition, the Alexandria City School Board’s Policy BF provides that policies will be reviewed at least every three years and revised as needed. |
